Stewart’s Transportation Team Welcomes Two New Hires

Published on January 19, 2026

Stewart is proud to announce the expansion of its Transportation team with the addition of two seasoned professionals in our Raleigh office. These additions reflect continued investment in one of the firm’s longest-standing practice areas.

Building on a legacy

Since Stewart’s founding in 1994, the Transportation Team has played a critical role in shaping North Carolina’s infrastructure. Under the guidance of longtime Transportation Engineer David Ruggles, PE—who celebrated 29 years with Stewart in 2025—the team has contributed to some of the state’s most recognizable bridges and heavily traveled transportation corridors, including widening and interchange upgrades of I-40, I-73 grade separation structures and traffic management in Greensboro, I-85 grade separations in Henderson, I-485 grade separations in Charlotte, and I-42 on new alignment around Goldsboro.

Building on this legacy, Stewart welcomes James Bridges, PE, and Andrew Taddie, PE, whose combined experience strengthens the firm’s ability to support complex transportation planning and design efforts across the region.

At Stewart, James will lead regional transportation planning initiatives, supporting communities as they plan for growth and evolving mobility needs.

The Road Ahead

“This is an exciting stage of growth for our Transportation team,” said David Ruggles, PE. “Adding James and Andrew allows us to expand our capacity, mentor the next generation of engineers and planners, and continue delivering thoughtful, high-quality transportation solutions for our clients and communities.”

With these new team members, Stewart’s Transportation team is well positioned to meet growing demand while continuing a legacy of excellence that spans more than three decades.
