Pedaling with Purpose: Stew Crew Rides at the 18th Annual Le Tour de Femme Cycling Event

Members of our Stew Crew braved the rain for the 18th annual Le Tour de Femme cycling event.

Le Tour de Femme is a women’s-only charity cycling ride with various distance options based on skill and experience. The event raises money for two local charities: the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the UNC Healthcare Cancer Fund.

This year’s event was held at the Little River Regional Park & Nature Preserve in Rougemont, North Carolina. The Stew Crew opted for the 15-mile ride which started at the park and meandered through the farm country. The horses, cows, and baby calves put a smile on every rider’s face as we pushed through the tough conditions!

Stewart was honored to be a sponsor of the event and support the mission of increasing awareness and funds for cancer research and survivorship programs.

The event organizers went above and beyond to ensure the safety and comfort of every rider. The Blue Knights patrolled the route along with volunteer fire marshals, while the volunteer sweepers offered tips and encouragement in moments of struggle as we navigated the mountains of Orange County.

At Mile 9, riders enjoyed a well-deserved rest stop, loading up on the homemade cookies, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, Gatorade, and even pickle juice shots to alleviate cramping! Once the ride concluded, riders, staff, and volunteers enjoyed a hot lunch in the pavilion and an onsite masseuse.

Stewart was thrilled to participate in this event and looks forward to riding again next year!
