Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM)

Responding to the increasing shortage of primary care physicians in North Carolina, the state’s population growth, an aging population, and the nationwide health care reform effort, Campbell University has created the School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). This is North Carolina’s first such program. The CUSOM is housed in a three-story, 75,000-square-foot facility.

Stewart was responsible for the civil engineering design, surveying, and transportation design associated with the new facility. Specifically, Stewart provided wetland identification, water and sewer public utility extensions, site layout, stormwater management, coordination with Progress Energy for power service, relocation of power lines along US 421 and US 421 roadway improvements.

US 421 is a four-lane divided facility. Stewart has provided preliminary engineering services to determine the feasibility and practicality of a superstreet design to help manage the increased turn movements along US 421.
