Stewart worked with the Town of Irmo on a strategic update to the Comprehensive Plan. The planning process utilized a variety of public engagement methods to gather feedback on priorities including pop-up events, a community survey, stakeholder interviews and public meetings. Key deliverables included an update to the Future Land Use Map, detailed character areas, and recommendations related to transportation and walkability, gateways, natural resources, parks and cultural resources.
Stewart led the development of the comprehensive plan with assistance from BOUDREAUX and Three Oaks Engineering. Stewart’s responsibilities included project management, land use planning, housing, resiliency, parks, natural resources, community facilities, priority investment, public engagement, urban design and graphic design. The highly visual plan modernized many of the Town’s comprehensive plan elements and included specific recommendations for the Irmo Town Center related to context-sensitive infill, zoning updates, and public realm improvement priorities.
