The NC School of Science and Mathematics developed a new campus in western North Carolina to further their STEM education efforts for the state’s best and brightest high school students. The 60-acre campus, situated in Morganton’s Broughton District, occupies a ridgeline with panoramic views to great open spaces and mountains beyond. The project blends the campus with the agrarian vernacular of the rolling fields while serving as a platform for experimentation and innovation. The live/learn campus is comprised of a vibrant and active HUB plaza, an entry quad, a campus green, and multiple outdoor spaces for collaboration between students and faculty.
Stewart was responsible for the overall site design, landscape architecture, and civil engineering for the project.
