This new four-story outpatient cancer center serves as a major expansion of the UNC Rex Healthcare campus in Raleigh. It was the first building developed on the new Macon Pond Campus. The Stewart team worked closely with the hospital and the architect to master plan the new campus, creating a framework to achieve the urban form represented in the Blue Ridge Corridor Alliance Area Plan.
Stewart provided landscape architecture, civil engineering, and surveying. The project, while set in an urban environment, preserves views to nature and incorporates intentional landscape amenity areas to help mitigate the physical and mental stress for patients, caregivers and staff. The site includes parking and circulation, welcoming patient drop off area, and several outdoor seating areas for patients, employees, and visitors.
